Providing Strategies and Resources for
Combatting
Ocean
Blindness

the lack of awareness and understanding about the ocean's importance in mitigating the challenges posed by climate change CAUSED BY HUMAN ACTIVITY

UNVEILED is a resource center for Global Skills Network's Blue Literacy strategies to enhance public understanding and stewardship of our Earth's hydrosphere and the vital role oceans, seas, rivers and lakes play in mitigating climate change. Open-schooling methodologies - flexible, learner-centered approaches to education that emphasize community-based learning - encourage learning beyond the traditional classroom by involving community partners and real-world activities such as citizen science and calls to action to combat climate change caused by human activity. UNVEILED publishes teaching training material, stand-alone coursework for primary and secondary students, and a series of children's books on Blue Literacy written for the cognitive abilities of ages 7-10, 11-14, 16-18. Take a look at what else we have to offer:

E-Learning

Educational Technology supporting online courses, digital content, children's stand-alone coursework and interactive gaming involve equipping both educators and students with the necessary skills to effectively use these technologies in both formal education and non-formal educational learning environments. As ecosystems and global challenges are interconnected, so too must educational methods evolve to reflect this complexity. The paradigm shift needed to incorporate blue literacy into inter-disciplinary curricula transform education systems towards preparing students to understand and solve the critical environmental challenges of our time, fostering a generation of thinkers equipped with systems thinking, problem-solving skills, and a sense of responsibility for the health of our planet.

Virtual Escape Rooms & Site Visits

Offering engaging, interactive learning experiences that promote understanding of ocean ecosystems, marine conservation, and sustainable practices. Active learning and engagement promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills, where collaboration and contextual learning of complex issues take place within simulated marine and freshwater environments. Virtual site visits offer a glimpse into the Blue Economy workforce, industrial ecosystem and innovation

Hackathons

Offer an exciting opportunity for participants to collaboratively develop innovative solutions to ocean-related challenges while deepening their understanding of the critical role Earth's hydrosphere plays in mitigating climate change caused by human activity. Hackathons not only raises awareness about ocean health but also fosters creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. They empower participants to create scalable solutions for ocean conservation, encourages citizen science and advocacy, and builds a community of innovators committed to safeguarding marine ecosystems for future generations
